Faits intéressants sur Village flottant du lac Tonle Sap
The River That Can't Make Up Its Mind: The Tonlé Sap is the only river in the world that changes direction twice a year. In dry season, it drains into the Mekong. In wet season, the Mekong floods so violently it pushes the water backward, swelling the lake to five times its size. We schedule our trips around this chaos, not despite it.
Houses With Engines: "Floating village" isn't a metaphor. The communities here don't have addresses; they have coordinates. When the water moves, the village moves. You’ll see schools, gas stations, and pig farms towed by boats to follow the shoreline. It’s not a tourist exhibit; it’s a survival strategy.
The Mud is Money: You will see brown water. Tourists call it dirty; locals call it rich. The silt churned up by the flow makes this one of the most productive freshwater ecosystems on earth. It provides 75% of Cambodia's inland protein. If the water were clear blue, the country would starve.
The "Dry" Season Myth: Big cruise lines cancel this route when the water drops, forcing passengers onto 6-hour bus rides because their ships are too heavy. Our boats are designed with a shallow draft. When the water gets low, we don't get on a bus. We just keep driving the boat.
